OCR
Before starting translation, documents should be properly prepared for further editing by the translator and proofreader. The most convenient format that works well with CAT software is the .doc extension file or other Office formats. However, the documents provided by the clients are created in various programs. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software allows you to convert non-editable files into documents where you can easily substitute the original text with translation. The quality of the material obtained in this way depends largely on the source document. Therefore, very often after using OCR, additional editing is necessary to prepare the file: to arrange the texts, reconstruct the tables, complete captions under the photos.
The documents that are most frequently processed using OCR software include manuals, technical documentation, property valuation surveys, brochures, advertising and promotional materials.
